01Getting started

This is the Himalayas Pro theme instruction page. We have tried our best to keep it as simple as possible. If you think it can be made even simpler let us know we will be glad to change it. Let's start! On the right side you can see the table of contents of this documentation. Jump to the section you want, or read it all through - your choice. Let's move on!

Installation

Installing your theme is pretty easy! After downloading you should have a himalayas-pro.zip file. This is a compressed file containing all of the required templates, images and icons required for the theme to function properly.

Upload the theme

  1. Go to Appearance > Themes in the WordPress Dashboard
  2. Click on the Add New button
  3. Click on the Upload link
  4. Select the himalayas-pro.zip file
  5. Click Install Now

Activate the theme

  1. Go to Appearance > Themes in the WordPress menu
  2. Hover over the theme thumbnail and press the Activate button

02Himalayas Setup

By default, when theme is activated, You need to set following things:
  1. Set Menu
  2. Slider setup
  3. Content Section Setting
  4. Footer Section Setup

04Slider Setup

Slider Setting is available in Appearance->Customize.

Activate Slider

Slider will not display by default. It need to be activated.

Slider Status

Upon activation Slider will display only in front page.

05Content Section Setting

By default, all the posts are displayed (with Right Sidebar) in the front page content section. You can Add widgets in "Front Page Sidebar" to display widget section just above the posts. Himalayas provide 7 awesome widgets to make your home page look great.

Static page

If you select a Static page in Setting-> Reading and choose a page as "Front Page" than the content of the page is displayed instead of posts

Displaying Widgets

  1. In the dashboard, go to Appearance > Widget. OR Appearance > Customize
  2. Place the widget in the Front Page Sidebar. Widget Descriptions
  3. After completing the above steps, save the changes.
Hide blog post or static page from front page

After the widget section all the post are displayed (display page, if static page is selected) which you can hide from Appearance > Customize > Himalayas Additional Options

07Widget Descriptions

Himalayas provide Seven awesome widget that you can use in Front Page Sidebar to make your one page templates look amazing.

Note: Enter the unique ID (link about or services) in "Section ID" field in the widgets and use same ID in the Menu for One Page Menu.
  1. TG: About Widget

    This widget provide option to enter Title, Description, Select page (drop-down option), Secondary Button Text, link and icon class. There are two Buttons, first is default and second is user define. It is possible to add link to redirect and font awesome icon class in Secondary Buttons while first button will redirect to the corresponding page

  2. TG: Service Widget

    This widget enable you to display your services. In this widget, enter the Title, Description and number of pages to display. You need to create the pages, enter the Title, Descriptions and assign the Service Template in the Page Attributes. Set the Featured image for the page if you wish to show it or you can also enter any Icon class.

    Note: Icon Class Box will only appear if the page is assigned to Service Template. If both, Featured image and Icon Class is used than Featured Image will display. service-template
  3. TG: Portfolio Widget

    Show your Portfolio using this widget. Similar to TG: Service Widget, enter the Title, Description and number of pages to display. You need to create the pages, enter the Title, Descriptions and assign the Portfolio Template in the Page Attributes. Set the Featured image for the page if you wish to show it. If the Featured Image is not set than place holder will display.

  4. TG: Our Team Widget

    Show your Team Members. In this widget, set Color or Image as Background, enter Title, Description and number of members to display. You need to create the pages, enter the Title, Descriptions and assign the Our Team Template in the Page Attributes. Set the Featured image for the page if you wish to show it and enter the Designation.

    Note: Designation Box will only appear if the page is assigned to Our Team Template. team-template
  5. TG: Featured Posts

    This widget display your latest posts. In this widget, set Color or Image as Background, enter the Title and Description. Select the number of posts to display from either the Latest Posts or Posts from the certain Category. Enter the Button Text and link to redirect it.

  6. TG: Call To Action Widget

    Display Call to action. In this widget, enter the Title, Text, Button text, Button redirect link. There is also the option of background color and image. Set color to display it as background or Upload image.

  7. TG: Contact Us Widget

    This widget is for displaying your contact information and contact form. Enter the Title, Description, Choose a Page from Dropdown pages to display page Title and Description. Our theme Support Contact Form 7, it's free theme available in WordPress repo. Paste the Shortcode of Contact Form 7 in the Shortcode field.

08Header Options

All the options related to Header part are available in Appearance-> Customize-> Himalayas Header Options.

Header Sticky/Non Sticky

By default the Header is sticky. Check the Box to make it non-sticky.

Header Transparency

Header is Transparent in the front page only, when Slider is activated. Check the Box to make it non-Transparent.

Header Title/Tagline and Logo

Upload your logo and select the options available to show/hide Title/Tagline and Logo.

09Slider Options

All the options related to Slider part are available in Appearance-> Customize-> Himalayas Slider Options.

Check to Enable the slider to activate the slider. Slider will appear only on front page. Refer here for Slider setup

10Design Options

Layout Options and Custom CSS Box are available in Appearance-> Customize-> Himalayas Design Options.

Default Layout

This layout will be reflected in whole site archives, search etc. The layout for a single post and page can be controlled from below options.

Default layout for pages only

Select default layout for pages. This layout will be reflected in all pages unless unique layout is set for specific page.

Default Layout For Single Posts Only

Select default layout for single posts. This layout will be reflected in all single posts unless unique layout is set for specific post.

You can select different layout for each pages and posts.

Layout Options

  1. Default Layout
    By default this options will be selected which will display the Right Sidebar.
  2. Right Sidebar
  3. Left Sidebar
  4. No Sidebar Full Width
  5. No Sidebar Content Centered
  6. Both Sidebar

Custom CSS Box.

Himalayas-pro have Custom CSS Box which will ease your work if you need to add CSS in your site. Note: It will strip all the tags. Also, we strongly recommend not to edit the code in the theme's file. You changes will be lost if you update the theme. Use child theme instead. Or this Box for Styling.

11Additional Options

All other options are available in Appearance-> Customize-> Himalayas Additional Options.

Header Blog post from Front Page

All the blog post are displayed in home by default. If widget are placed in Front Page Sidebar than Posts will appear below the widgets. If Static page is selected in Setting-> Reading than page content will display instead of posts. Check the Box to hide the Blog post/page.

Excerpt or Full Post Options.

Some use wants to display the excerpt of page/post while other wants Full Content of the post on their archive pages. So, we have included this feature in our theme. Just select the appropriate option.

12Supported Plugins

This theme support the following Plugins:
  1. Contact Form 7 plugin.
  2. WP-PageNavi plugin.
Use Contact Form 7 shortcodes only in TG: Contact us widget. Other Contact Form shortcode might not work as expected but we might support other popular plugin in the future.
Other plugins are not tested with this theme but by default some plugins might work with the theme.

13Things to Know

  1. We highly recommend to use Child Theme if you need to change the code of the theme. Do not change the codes in the files of parent theme. All such changes will be lost when theme is updated.
  2. Always keep BackUp of your theme before doing any changes.
  3. If you need to use any Custom CSS Code than you can paste it in Custom CSS Box available in Appearance- Customize-> Himalayas Design Options. If CSS code contain > and < than it will filter it, so usechild theme instead.
  4. If you get any problem than you can do the following things:
    • Check by deactivate the plugins, sometime plugin conflict might cause issue. Please deactivate the unused plugins.
    • Replace latest modified code to the original code. Download is available in WordPress repo. You can also download older versions of theme from the trac.

  1. How can I change the Copyright text in the footer?
    • Feature to edit copyright section is not available in the free version. But if you can tweak code than feel free to do it.
  2. I don't see the Pro forum.
    • If you are Pro users than login in to see Pro forum.
  3. Why there is Section ID in every widget?
  4. When the Templates such as Service Template, Portfolio Template and Service Template are used?
    • TG: Service Widget will display those pages which is assigned to Service Template. Similarly Portfolio Template and Service Template are used for TG: Portfolio Widget and TG: Our Team Widget respectively. For more detail see Widget Descriptions
