    Hi Sanjip,

    Sorry about that. We did have a bit of a mail server problem yesterday.

    All is well now and I’ve responded to your email with the information you needed.

    Thanks.

    The above post didn’t take the last two image links I posted and now won’t allow me to edit so I’ll add all images here:

    Active Page: Home (dropdown menu behaviour is correct in this view)

    View post on imgur.com

    Active Page: Care Services

    View post on imgur.com

    Active Page: Dog and Cat Care (submenu page item)

    Overview

    View post on imgur.com

    Note: You can’t see the mouse cursor in the screenshots but you can see the hovered items showing the different background in the first two images. You can’t see them in the final image since the entire menu changed it’s colour scheme to what should be shown only for hovered items.

    Hi Sanjip,

    No changes were made to to the style.css files. All CSS entered was done in Appearance->Theme Options->Design Tab->Custom CSS but the behaviour is still not correct.

    This is all the CSS I have in there right now:

    .button {
        display: inline-block;
        text-align: center;
        vertical-align: middle;
        padding: 12px 24px;
        border: 1px solid #121111;
        border-radius: 8px;
        background: #5a5555;
        background: -webkit-gradient(linear, left top, left bottom, from(#5a5555), to(#121111));
        background: -moz-linear-gradient(top, #5a5555, #121111);
        background: linear-gradient(to bottom, #5a5555, #121111);
        font: normal normal bold 14px trebuchet ms;
        color: #ffffff;
        text-decoration: none;
    }

    I’ve uploaded some screenshot to the internet so you can see what I mean. Below are three views of the menu in different states – The correct state with the Home Page as the active page. The menu is correct when either Home, About Us, or Contact Us are the active page. The next screenshot is the with the Care Services main menu item being the active page. You’ll notice the menu is not the same as the proper state. The last of the three menu views is with a submenu page item being the active page. The dropdown menu is completely incorrect. I’ve added a 4th image showing all three menu views in one image with some explanation of the format issues beside them. I hope this helps clarify what I’m talking about.

    Active Page: Home (Menu is correct here)

    Active Page: Care Services

    Hi Sanjip,

    Thank you for your response. The CSS you provided did fix the issue with the menu in terms of the active page being indicated in the menu. Thanks for that.

    As for the other issue, if you go to the website (https://furballschoice.com/) the Home page is the current page you are on, hover over the ‘Care Services’ drop down menu. You will notice that the sub menu items have black text with a light beige coloured background. If you hover over the sub-menu items the hovered item switches to a darker background with white bolded text. This is the correct behaviour and is proper when either the Home page, About Us page, or the Contact Us page are the current page.

    The problem exists when either the Care Services or any of the sub menu pages are the active page. To demonstrate, please go to the Care Services page (https://furballschoice.com/?page_id=53) and hover over the ‘Care Services’ menu. You’ll notice that the sub menu items all now have a different background colour than they did when Care Services was not the active page, the font style has changed and is now a grey color instead of black, and when hovering dropdown menu items the white text remains unbolded.

    I’d like the drop down menu to behave consistently, regardless of the page the user is on, so, in all cases, the dropdown menu should appear with the light beige background with black text in it’s normal state. The hovered state should have a darker brown background and white bolded text..

    Here is the CSS currently in use on the site for the menu:

    .main-navigation ul li a:hover {
        background-color: #917C71;
        color: #FFFFFF;
        font-weight: bold;
    }

    .main-navigation ul li a {
        padding-left: 60px;
        padding-right: 60px;
        background-color: #FFFFFF;
        font-weight: bold;
    }

    .main-navigation ul li ul li a,
    .main-navigation ul li.current-menu-item ul li a,
    .main-navigation ul li ul li.current-menu-item a {
    	color: #000000;
            background-color: #F0E3B6;
    }

    .main-navigation ul li ul li a:hover,
    .main-navigation ul li.current_page_ancestor ul li a,
    .main-navigation ul li.current-menu-ancestor ul li a,
    .main-navigation ul li.current_page_item ul li a:hover {
    	color: #FFFFFF;
            background-color: #917C71;
    }

    .main-navigation a:hover,
    .main-navigation ul li.current-menu-item a,
    .main-navigation ul li.current_page_ancestor a,
    .main-navigation ul li.current-menu-ancestor a,
    .main-navigation ul li.current_page_item a {
       color: #000000;
           background-color: #CEB777;
    }

    Thanks.

    Hi Lizzie,

    Thanks for catching that error. I’ve corrected it but this still hasn’t fixed the behavior.

    For example, when you hover over any menu item, the background changes to a brown color. I’d like the menu item for the active page to remain brown. Also, the drop down menu for “Care Services” when on the Home, About Us, or Contact Us pages behaves as it should – colored background int he dropdown with black text for the dropdown items. When on the Care Services page or any page in the dropdown menu the behavior is incorrect. The text in the dropdown menu becomes white and the item background colors no longer change on hover.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Anyone have an answer to this? We have an event coming up soon and would like the website to be free of odd behaviour prior to the increase in traffic.

    Thanks.

    I’ve had a user report this same issue, however in IE 11 on my system it is working as it should. That user was my mother any she is running Windows 7 with IE 10 currently.
