I shall do this later today.

This is what I did; i.e. used the long string to describe the url. I used the sql code

    update xx_options
        set option_value = '<long string>'
        where option_name = 'child_spacious'

    Dave

Also the page templates are being reset to having a right column with the pages.

I am using a child theme, and am not currently using the original theme or amending it’s option record.

I no longer consider this to be browser specific, I get the same behaviour on Edge, Opera, Firefox and Chrome (Desktop & Chrome).

I upload the settings changing the one instance of next.d into d and the icon and slider disappear, the site id heading becomes text only. This is how the site is now. http://davelevy.info

I can use the php screens to reset the slider but not the ite identity logo.

Restoring my copy of the settings records works fine.

I still need some help, the article you point to suggests using a plugin which acts as a filter, which I couldn’t get to work, so I decided to try and amend the database.

The string “next.d” appeared in two option rows, spacious and child_spacious.

Child Spacious has the option value of

a:40:{s:26:"spacious_header_logo_image";s:72:"http://next.davelevy.info/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/dave-circle-72d.png";s:30:"spacious_show_header_logo_text";s:4:"both";s:30:"spacious_header_image_position";s:5:"above";s:20:"spacious_site_layout";s:10:"box_1218px";s:23:"spacious_default_layout";s:27:"no_sidebar_content_centered";s:29:"spacious_pages_default_layout";s:13:"right_sidebar";s:36:"spacious_single_posts_default_layout";s:27:"no_sidebar_content_centered";s:29:"spacious_archive_display_type";s:10:"blog_large";s:22:"spacious_primary_color";s:7:"#0FBE7C";s:19:"spacious_color_skin";s:5:"light";s:19:"spacious_custom_css";s:0:"";s:25:"spacious_activate_favicon";b:0;s:16:"spacious_favicon";s:0:"";s:24:"spacious_activate_slider";s:1:"1";s:20:"spacious_blog_slider";s:0:"";s:22:"spacious_slider_image1";s:65:"http://davelevy.info/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/city-1400x400.png";s:22:"spacious_slider_title1";s:19:"Work, rest and play";s:21:"spacious_slider_text1";s:29:"At work in the City of London";s:28:"spacious_slider_button_text1";s:9:"Read more";s:21:"spacious_slider_link1";s:26:"http://davelevy.info/work/";s:22:"spacious_slider_image2";s:68:"http://davelevy.info/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/britmus-1400x400.png";s:22:"spacious_slider_title2";s:16:"Research & Ideas";s:21:"spacious_slider_text2";s:45:"ideas and notes on work and personal

I wrote code that extracts this row/column and then restores it using update set where, I used the restore code to edit the property string to change “next.” to null and then run the new sql. The result is that Icon display is set to off, and the slider properties disappear.

I have also tried to use update set option_name = replace() but this also has unexpected results; in this case I used the complete icon URL as the search target and the replacement argument. This also came back with a hidden header icon.

    Can you help?

    My web site is https://davelevy.info

Do you mean Page layouts are not displaying as set from customizer?

Yes, although I have corrected most of the Pages by hand i.e. entered the editor and changed the setting from Default to “No Sidebar, Content Centred”. My problem is the posts.

https://davelevy.info/mastodon/ is an example of a post which uses “Right Sidebar” display and has the Layout setting set to default in the editor page, the customize panel is set to the T setting, i.e. the 4th which I assume to be “No Sidebar, Content Centred”.

    My customiser setting

Curious, my default setting as viewed in the Customiser is as I want, “No Sidebar Content Centered”, but the imported entries, are described in the editor as “Default Setting” and displayed as “Right Sidebar”.

Is there any way to change this other than one at a time?

It was the theme options. Where are they kept then, that they are not carried over to a child theme?

And why do you recommend the older child theme paradigm. i.e. an empty functions file with an import in the style file and as opposed to the functions file I used, which is supported by an empty style.css

After installing spacious there are now two widget editor interfaces. In order to make i.e. add widgets to the candidate frontpage as illustrated, one needs to use the standard wordpress widget interface and not their theme editor interface. This is explained in the video, but not in the written documentation. I’d advise revising the documentation to make this clear.
