Can you ensure that the uploaded featured images for those posts too is bigger than that size and check once? And while we are checking the same in our development environment, we could successfully enable the same in there. So, can you once check on those too and confirm? Thanks.

The native size of the featured image in-question is 750 x 500. I don’t think that should cause a problem, should it?

We have tried that more that 25 times with full success in each of the check. And we might not properly know about what in your case is wrong so we might not be able to properly assist you onto it. Hope you can understand. Thanks.

    Earlier you said this:

Can you please clarify what you mean by this? I feel it would help with my troubleshooting. Are you saying that the native size of the featured image *must be larger* than the 750 x 500 size of the thumbnail?

Yes, it should be larger than that size. Thanks.

OK I’m a little confused why that should be. Can you explain why? Why does the image need to be *larger* than the thumbnail size? Shouldn’t the theme (or WordPress) be smart enough to know when the native size is identical to the thumbnail size?

Yes, it should know it. And in our case, we have been always successful in our development environment for same more than 25 times. So, maybe some other thing is wrong for your site? So, maybe check once on other too and see if that can work out for you? Thanks.

OK I finally got it to work. What I had to do was first, on my local computer, rename the image file in-question. I gave it a new name–a name different than the image that already exists in the WordPress media library. Then I uploaded that renamed file to WordPress. When I did so, as expected, the theme did one of two things:

    1. If the image was larger than 750 x 500 px, the theme created a thumbnail of size 750 x px.
    2. If the image was exactly 750 x 500 px in-size, the theme did not create a thumbnails of size 750 x px.

In-turn, on my blog page, the image was displayed at 750 x 500 px, as expected.

My guess is that, since there were two images of the same filename in the WordPress library–with one having a 750 x 350 px ‘featured blog large’ thumbnail and the other having a 750 x 500 ‘featured blog large’ thumbnail, that the first image (750 x 350) kept superseding the second image. It was only when I renamed the second image that I could get this to work. Alternatively, my guess is that if I deleted the first image, this would also work.

Also, just to be clear, which hook should I use: init or after_theme_setup?

    Thanks.
