I noted that on Internet Explorer (v9) I see the magnifying glass icon next to the Search dialog box, but in Chrome or iPad’s Safari I don’t see this. Is this something I can enable?

Can you check our demo site demo.themegrill.com/spacious-pro in your device/browser and check if the search icon is there or not. In your case it might be plugin conflict so, you can try deactivating your active plugins one by one and see if this solves the issue.April 22, 2014 at 4:53 pm #2100
Question: Could a conflict with a plugin be a browser specific problem? It isn’t that it is never displayed successfully. Recall that IE 9 is showing it correctly, while Chrome on the same computer isn’t. I’d rather not deactivate plugins if I can help it since I just got them all running. I will though if it still makes sense. On my iPad in Chrome, it is there on your demo site, but not on my site. Here are some screenshots:

I just checked you site in Mozilla Browser and I see the icon is there, but still the issue is there for chrome. I can also see the icon in IE, Opera.
Since, for the chrome I can see the icon is there in our demo site and not in your site, the sets of plugins that you have used might make a different. You could deactivate a plugin, check and again reactivate it again and similar for others. I inspected the elements for your site in Chrome and everything seems to be fine as it should. I will be looking at this issue and find something that might be causing this, will pass it to you.April 24, 2014 at 5:12 pm #2248
OK, I might have found at least a cause and/or a workaround. I added a 3rd Page, the link for which appears in the header now – “Equipment” – and all of the sudden the magnifying glass shows up. If I had to guess I’d say that the added page extended the box the Search and the page links are in just far enough so that the icon can appear. Does that sound reasonable? That would explain why the demo page shows up fine since you have that many pages listed. I didn’t shut off any of the plugins yet.

Yes, that seems to be the issue. I checked this in our demo site and it appears to be the same (less items no search icon). This seems strange, we will be looking at this and releasing fix in our version updates. This seems to be issue with only chrome. Thanks for pointing it out and sorry for the inconvenience. If I find a quick fix I will add this in this comment.
