    Hi Sanjip!
    I create a child theme of Spacious in order to update to the 1.1 version.
    First, I tried to create it by myself (following the WP documentation) but the result was not good as I expect.
    So, I tried with a plugin (Child theme configurator) but it made no difference.

    This is what I’m talking about:

    Hi,

    Did you go through this page https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes?

    Yes, this is the first thing I’ve tried to do, but no way.

    Can you put the code in the style.css file of your child theme? I will have a look.

    Hi mcipriani, this helped me with the child theme. And it is dead easy to use. https://wordpress.org/plugins/child-themify/

    Thanks for the support, but it doesn’t help me.
    The plugin has the same result of the one I’ve tried (https://wordpress.org/plugins/child-theme-configurator/).
    🙁

    hello Sanjip. Great theme, I’m just playing around with it.

    I want to create a child theme, but the plugin “child themify” doesn’t do the trick.

    Could you guys provide a basic default child theme to download?
    Like those people at themesandco do.

    It’d be great!

    Cheers.

    I wondered if the problem had anything to do with the default Child Theme header comments the WP Codex provides:

    /*
     Theme Name:   Twenty Fourteen Child
     Theme URI:    https://example.com/twenty-fourteen-child/
     Description:  Twenty Fourteen Child Theme
     Author:       John Doe
     Author URI:   https://example.com
     Template:     twentyfourteen
     Version:      1.0.0
     Tags:         light, dark, two-columns, right-sidebar, responsive-layout, accessibility-ready
     Text Domain:  twenty-fourteen-child
    */

    /*
    For older themes, and themes that do not use wp_enqueue_style() to enqueue their stylesheet, use the following line where twentyfourteen is the name of the directory where the theme resides:

    @import url("../twentyfourteen/style.css");
    */

    /* =Theme customization starts here
    -------------------------------------------------------------- */

    Maybe the wp_enqueue_style()?

    I am about to start editing a client’s site and would also like to use a child theme to make all my edits aside from the native dashboard options. When and where do you think you will make this available for download? And thank you for offering – love this theme!

    Cheers,
    David

    hi again. I haven’t heard from the developers about this, but in the mean time I’ve tried again and managed to get the child theme working.

    My child theme folder only contains this style.css:

    /*
    Theme Name: Spacious Child
    Theme URI:
    Description: Spacious Child Theme
    Author:
    Author URI:
    Template: spacious
    Version: 1.0.0
    Tags:
    Text Domain: spacious-child
    */

    @import url("../spacious/style.css");

    /* =Theme customization starts here
    -------------------------------------------------------------- */

    I think it was not importing the parent’s CSS before because of the quote characters used after “import url”.

    Hope this can help others!

    @import url(*../spacious/style.css");
